A Bible time with the kids in Proverbs 5 verse 21:
For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his goings.
Our ways are before his eyes -- so he sees it all.
The kids knew this, they said, "Yeah, we know. He knows everything".
Then I asked them, but did you know that he thinks about the way we go? As in, ponders our goings? As in, thinks about us?
No, they had never considered that before. We looked up the word ponder.
Ponder: to consider deeply, to weigh carefully in the mind, to meditate upon.
That's much deeper than just a rushed thought.
We went to Psalm 139. Such a beautiful illustration on how intimately involved He actually is in each of our lives, whether we stop to consider it or not. As we stopped to consider this great truth, reading and being reminded is always overwhelming (Such knowledge is too wonderful for me). To read, how no matter where we go His Spirit is there. To read, how he protects us. To read, how he formed us with such care and how everything we say, do or think is already known by him, knowing us better than we can know ourselves. On top of all of this care and intimate knowledge of our very beings, to think and understand that God thinks precious thoughts toward us, more than can be numbered, just amazes me.
How precious also are thy thoughts unto me O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them they are more in number than the sand. Psalm 139:17-18
By this we can see that he wants so much more than to merely know us, He desires a relationship with us.
It was not just a good way to start the day and a great reminder me, I think that God also revealed a little bit more of his character to my children that morning.
To know Him is to love Him.... We love Him because He first loved us....... He
has taken such steps to show us His love.
